How I did it
In 2021, I took a leave from my job to care for my health and reclaim my peace after enduring years of workplace abuse. That time away became a moment of truth that revealed just how much I had been sacrificing to survive in spaces that were never safe for me.
Not long after, I was fired. And while it could have broken me, it freed me.
That season forced me to confront everything I had been taught about loyalty, success, and strength. For the first time in a long time, I chose myself. What followed was not just recovery but rebirth.
It was in the quiet of that year that the Alicia Nicole Brand was born, not just as an idea but as a necessity for me and for so many others carrying similar wounds in silence.
In 2022, what began as healing became a brand.
The Alicia Nicole brand was born, an intentional blend of wellness, leadership, and luxury created specifically for Black women by a Black woman. In 2022, I hosted my signature brunch, Relax, Release, & Restore, for 15 powerful women in a private wine cellar at The Strand House. It was more than an event; it was a declaration of what was possible when prioritizing ourselves.
That same year, I fully entered the luxury space, collaborating with Jo Malone London and Nordstrom for my first brand-aligned experience. It marked the beginning of something sacred: Black women being seen, held, and celebrated at the highest level.
This was the year I expanded my horizons, taking my travel experiences to a global scale. I ventured into new territories, both physically and creatively, exploring diverse cultures and deepening my storytelling. This year solidified my commitment to turning every adventure into a meaningful narrative that inspires and connects people worldwide.
2024 was the year I deepened the mission and expanded the experience.
I launched ElevateHER: Pivoting Fearlessly, a two-part series designed to support high-achieving women through transitions with grace and strategy.
I curated the first-ever Sisterhood Retreat in August, an invite-only space rooted in community care, connection, and restoration. This led to the Third Annual Relax, Release, & Restore Retreat in October: a fully immersive weekend where softness was not a luxury—it was the standard.
In November, I returned to an intentional partnership with a Jo Malone London Private Shopping Experience that reminded us that luxury is our birthright, not a bonus.
Already in 2025, I have continued to honor Black women in exquisite, healing spaces.
Galentine’s in Luxe returned as a soft, joy-filled celebration of sisterhood.
In May, I partnered with Louis Vuitton for an exclusive private shopping experience. It began before store hours and ended in a Louis Vuitton’s private apartment suite curated with intention, beauty, and reverence for who we are.
What began in 2021 as a breaking point has transformed into a legacy of luxurious, liberating, and healing experiences for Black women everywhere. And I’m just getting started.

We are two weeks after the election, and we didn’t do it, Joe. We did not win the battle against racism, white supremacy, misogyny, and criminal enterprise. Americans went to the ballot box and willingly said no, we do not trust Vice President Kamala Harris,…
I promise this opinion piece (coupled with real-life experience) is not clickbait; this is an honest question that lives rent-free in my brain: Do Black women want safety in professional settings? In short, the answer is YES! Black women want AND deserve safety in professional…
